When Samsung introduced its first foldable phone, Samsung Galaxy Fold, the company said the device will use a 7nm, octa-core, 64-bit processor without saying what the processor was or which company produced it. However, as it is a 7nm processor, many people believe that it should be the Snapdragon 855 SoC given that Samsung’s Exynos 9820 SoC is an 8nm chipset. Even with that, we were still cautious is assuming that the Galaxy Fold would pack the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Usually for Samsung flagship devices - like the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 9 - Samsung often equips them with Exynos processors manufactured by the company.
The confirmation regarding the processor came through the build.prop inside the combination firmware of the Galaxy Fold SM-F900U, which included references to “sm8150”, which is the internal model name of the Snapdragon 855.
Moreover, the new Galaxy Fold benchmark scores appear on SamMobile (with model number SM-F900F), which further confirms what kind of processor this device is using. The listing shows that the device is running a Qualcomm processor, which is most likely the Snapdragon 855 SoC.

For most users, this will not bring much difference. However, it is interesting to know that Qualcomm's chipset is the only option goes for on this device, instead of the self-produced Exynos processor, especially when not many Galaxy Fold devices are produced.
The Galaxy Fold has already been confirmed to come to in the Indian market, but the exact launch date is not yet confirmed.
Samsung Galaxy Fold: Specifications
The foldable smartphone can be unfolded like a book. It comes with a foldable seam in the middle and a metal chassis around the edges. When it is folded, it is a 4.6-inch HD+ AMOLED display while when unfolded, it will act as a tablet with a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLE Infinity Flex panel. The company claims that it managed to engineer the Infinity Flex display and the hinge to handle hundreds of thousands of unfolds and folds.

The Galaxy Fold is powered by a 7nm octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with 12GB RAM/512GB storage. To keep the phone ticking, there will be two batteries with a total capacity of 4,380 mAh. Samsung didn’t go into specifics about its battery life. However, the device is said to have support for the Wireless Power Share or also known as reverse wireless charging to act as a wireless charging pad for other devices.

The device comes with six cameras in total, including triple cameras on the rear, two inside the phone and one camera on the front. With that, users can take pictures and record videos with the phone no matter which way you hold it. On the side edge, it features a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
The triple camera setup on the rear is similar to the ones on the Galaxy S10 series. The setup comprises of a 16MP camera with ultra-wide lens, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP camera with a wide-angle lens. On the side of the phone, the dual camera setup is the same as on the Galaxy S10+, including a 10MP sensor and an 8MP depth sensor. Lastly, there is also a 10MP selfie camera.
Samsung Galaxy Fold: Color Variants & Price
The device will come in a total of four colour variants, Space Silver, Astro Blue, Cosmo Black, and Martian Green. Moreover, the seam’s color can even be customized as well.

The Galaxy Fold will be up for sale on 26 April, and it will come in two versions, one with 4G LTE support and the other with 5G support. The phone will be priced from $1,980 (Rs. 141,900) which is most likely the 4G LTE device, while the 5G version should be priced well over $2,000.
