Galaxy Fold Spotted On GeekBench With A Qualcomm Processor

There are further evidences proving that the upcoming Galaxy Fold will come with a Qualcomm processor instead of a Samsung-made Exynos one.

When Samsung introduced its first foldable phone, Samsung Galaxy Fold, the company said the device will use a 7nm, octa-core, 64-bit processor without saying what the processor was or which company produced it. However, as it is a 7nm processor, many people believe that it should be the Snapdragon 855 SoC given that Samsung’s Exynos 9820 SoC is an 8nm chipset. Even with that, we were still cautious is assuming that the Galaxy Fold would pack the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Usually for Samsung flagship devices - like the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 9 - Samsung often equips them with Exynos processors manufactured by the company.

The confirmation regarding the processor came through the build.prop inside the combination firmware of the Galaxy Fold SM-F900U, which included references to “sm8150”, which is the internal model name of the Snapdragon 855.

Moreover, the new Galaxy Fold benchmark scores appear on SamMobile (with model number SM-F900F), which further confirms what kind of processor this device is using. The listing shows that the device is running a Qualcomm processor, which is most likely the Snapdragon 855 SoC.

For most users, this will not bring much difference. However, it is interesting to know that Qualcomm's chipset is the only option goes for on this device, instead of the self-produced Exynos processor, especially when not many Galaxy Fold devices are produced.

The Galaxy Fold has already been confirmed to come to in the Indian market, but the exact launch date is not yet confirmed.

When it is folded, it is a 4.6-inch HD+ AMOLED display while when unfolded, it will act as a tablet with a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLE Infinity Flex panel. The company claims that it managed to engineer the Infinity Flex display and the hinge to handle hundreds of thousands of unfolds and folds.
