First Smartphone Powered By Snapdragon 665 To Be Unveiled On May 30

The Meizu 16Xs is tipped to be the first device powered by Snapdragon 665 chipset and will launch on May 30.

Qualcomm chipset maker has recently introduced various new mobile chipsets in its 6xx series. They consist of Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 675 chipsets. Additionally, the Snapdragon 675 SoC is widely used in smartphones such as the Vivo V15 Pro, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and others. Now, the first smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 665 SoC will soon be unveiled, as per a famous Twitter tipster. Previously, the real identity of the smartphones and the brand remained unknown.  However, the tipster said that the device is about to launch on 30 May.

It is known that the Meizu 16Xs is the only smartphone to be unveiled on that day. This means the smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 655 chipset is probably the Meizu 16Xs. Previously, according to the leaks, this smartphone could come with a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Should the tipster be right, it will not an upgrade for this smartphone. It could be a lower variant of the Meizu 16X in fact, which is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC. It is known that the Snapdragon 655 chipset is based on the 11nm process and features Kryo 260 cores, which are less powerful than the 10nm process and Kryo 360 cores found on the Snapdragon 710 chipset. The reason why Meizu choose this SoC remains unknown, but it will be revealed soon.

Regarding other features of the Meizu 16Xs, it will be the first device of the company to have a triple camera setup, according to photos from TENNA. In addition to the chipset, the phone also has other upgrades, which is expected to take the likes of the Redmi Note 7 in Chinese market.  The phone will sport a 6.2-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen. In addition, it is said that the smartphone will be backed with a larger 4,000mAh cell. And its triple camera cluster probably comprises of a 48 megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, alongside two other lenses.
