The Oppo A8 is a new budget offering from Oppo shortly after launching the Oppo A91. It is possibly the last one that Oppo launches in 2019.

In addition to the OPPO A91 launched yesterday, the Chinese phone maker Oppo also introduced another low-cost smartphone called OPPO A8. The handset comes with a water-drop notched display with HD+ resolution. It also packs an Helio P35 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and a 4,230 mAh battery under the hood. For photography, there is a triple camera system at the back of the phone.

The budget Oppo A8 will be up for sale at a relatively low price of CNY 1,199, equivalent to around Rs. 12,200. It will come in two color variants, Green and Black in China on 26 December.

Oppo A8: Specifications & Features

As a cheap smartphone, OPPO A8 does not have too many highlights. Completely made from polycarbonate plastic, the handset comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen that supports HD+ resolution and has a waterdrop design at the top to house a selfie camera. The screen, according to OPPO, is capable of filtering blue light that is harmful to the eyes.

The configuration of the device is not really powerful when it is only equipped with a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, aided by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. With a beefy 4,230mAh battery, OPPO promises 14 hours of online video playback and 7 hours of continuous gaming. Its battery doesn’t support any fast charging technology, so it might take a while to refill it. Security-wise, it gets a fingerprint reader mounted at the back of the device.

On the front, there is an 8MP camera for taking selfies and calling video. Meanwhile, at the back, it features a triple-camera lens system, comprising of a 12MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth-sensing camera, and a 2MP camera with a macro lens.
