On Monday, the Taiwan-based ASUS announced its latest gaming-centric ROG Phone II as the world’s first phone to come with a Snapdragon 855 Plus. The handset quickly made its debut in China with the price. A day later, Chinese users could start registering the gaming phone for the first flash sale on JD.com, which is scheduled for 31 July. And it didn’t take much time for the ROG Phone II to reach more than 1.6 million registrations in China.

One of the main reasons for this amazing outcome is that the handset is offered at an impressively competitive price. It is retailed at only RMB 3,499 in China for the base Tencent variant with 12GB RAM / 128GB storage, which is equivalent to only around Rs. 35,000. However, because Chinese giant Tencent helped Asus to develop this new handset, the Tencent variant is installed with quite a few bloatware.

If you are not comfortable with your phone having a ton of bloatware, there are still non-Tencent options available. For RMB 5,999 (around Rs. 60,000), you can get the 12GB of RAM / 128GB of storage model or you can go for the top-end option with 12GB RAM / 512GB storage for RMB 7,999 (around Rs. 80,000). Unfortunately, international users will have to wait until mid-August for its price and availability, while Chinese fans can start purchasing the handset as early as next week.

To recall, the ASUS ROG Phone II was introduced as the first smartphone in the world to feature the newly-launched Snapdragon 855 Plus. Not just that, the handset also comes with a giant 6,000 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging solution. On the front, it is also equipped with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, HDR10, Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and 120Hz refresh rate. Other notable highlights include in-display fingerprint reader, up to 12GB RAM, 512GB of storage, dual 48MP + 13MP camera setup, and 24MP selfie camera.
