OnePlus obviously aimed at the higher end of the premium smartphone segment when it released OnePlus 7 Pro, as the phone is now on par with models like Samsung Galaxy S lineup. At the same time, Asus is having a head-on competition with OnePlus 7.
The year 2018 saw the competition of OnePlus 6 and Asus 5z, but the latter was found to have a few issues. Asus’s ZenUI was bloated and clunky, the cameras were not up to par, and the app came with it needs plenty of work to be called competent.
Asus 6z is the fix of these problems, and the company has even gone big with the specs. One of the highlights here is the “Flip Camera,” which can stir the curiosity of many. The bloated ZenUI is no more as it is now fast and fluid.
What Makes A OnePlus A OnePlus?
OnePlus’s a great experience all comes down to the OxygenOS, which lots of users said was the best on the market. It could even be compared with what Pixel phones are running on. OxygenOS is simply polished, minimalist, and smart.
OnePlus did not have a smooth start with the design, but it has learned a lot from initial setbacks. Its products now are appealing to the eyes without boosting the price too high.
There are not many companies out there that can give you a 12 GB of RAM option. Samsung does, but we have not seen its Galaxy Fold.
What the Asus 6z Lacks In Comparison To A OnePlus 7?
Most people will associate Asus with PC and laptops rather than smartphones.
Asus 6z looks quite big as it has to accommodate the Flip Camera and the beefy 5,000 mAh battery.
Asus 6z’s battery sounds impressive but please bear in mind that you will have to wait for quite a while to top up that big cell, the average time is 2 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge. You do not need to pay out so much on a OnePlus 7.
Design Appeals To A Different Audience
Asus 6z is an improvement of the 5z, but in comparison with OnePlus 7, the phone is still too chunky.
It is quite a big leap for Asus when it comes to the appearance of the 6z. The metallic Midnight Black finish is quite a looker, especially when it is coupled with the cool blue accents around the Asus brand and the power button. Gamers will realize that this kind of design is somehow similar to that of a ROG phone.
Excellent Battery Life And Performance
The performance of Asus 6z is top of the line, but it still gets too hot when you play some graphics-intensive titles. OnePlus 7 can handle games well without showing any sign of the heating-up issue.
The 5,000 mAh battery can easily last you two days. ZenUI will remain stock-looking even when you have opened several apps in the background. However, overall, OnePlus 7’s OxygenOS is still more rounded.
A Fun Camera That Shoots Great Video
The Flip Camera can yield good-quality photos, and it allows for some cool tricks:
Auto Panorama
While on other phones, you will have to turn your body to get the whole scene, on this Asus 6z, you can leave that job to the camera. All you have to do is to press the auto panorama button and wait. You will be included in the final picture as the camera will turn all the way back too.
Great for shooting kids
Users can manually control the tilt, so you do not have to bend or squat to take pictures of kids. A significant downer here is that lag happens, so you may find it hard to lock the camera in the right position.
Motion-tracking is a bit gimmicky
The motion-tracking feature lets you track a person after you tap on the image of him or her on the viewfinder. It is a bit slow but handy in many ways.
One of the rare weaknesses of OnePlus 7 is the oversaturated images it captured, and Asus 6z fixes just that. The colors look natural, and the low-light mode gives you more details than that of OnePlus 7. However, the pictures may look washed out sometimes.
Portraits also look natural and more detailed than what you have with OnePlus 7.
Asus 6z also has the setup consisting of 48MP and 13MP ultrawide camera so you will not notice much of a difference between selfie pictures taken by the two phones.
Outstanding video
Asus 6z does not have the OIS, but it does not seem to be a problem at all. The videos it takes are stable enough with only EIS. The laser assist can help produce steady videos no matter which mode you are in, standard or ultra-wide. The outcome is also detailed and smooth. Vloggers will love this phone as the 48 MP camera can turn all the way to the front.
More Storage And Two SIM Cards?
You will have dual SIM on OnePlus 7, but the option to expand the storage through microSD card is non-existent. With Asus, you get three slots for two Nano SIM cards and one for a microSD card, which can be a 2 TB.
Buy The Asus 6z
Given the specs, you will have a bang for your bucks for the price of Rs 31,999 for the 6GB/64GB configuration. If you are on the market for a sub Rs 35,000 model, Asus 6z is obviously a better choice than OnePlus 7.
The two-day battery is another delicious deal, making this new phone from Asus a strong competitor of OnePlus 7.
