5G - the next generation of the mobile Internet or “fifth generation” is on its way and it is bringing exceptional data upload and download speeds. And smartphone makers and users are preparing for the launch of 5G network, and while smartphone makers such as LG and Samsung have already announced smartphones with 5G support. Other Chinese OEMs have promised to offer 5G smartphones before late 2019. And some other makers like HTC has not committed to launch their own 5G devices.
While currently there are insinuations that HTC phone maker could leave the smartphone market early, Evan Blass, a reliable and famous leakster previously said that the company could be on track of launching a smartphone with 5G support with 2Q6U model number. Now, nearly a month since then, an HTC smartphone with the model number of 2Q6U10000 has appeared on Bluetooth SIG certification.
However, unfortunately, this listing has not revealed any significant information about the smartphone features other than Bluetooth 5.0 that the phone will support. There has been also no information about the marketing name of this phone. But, there are specs the phone could debut as HTC U13 smartphone as the company has not launched the successor to its HTC U12.
For further information, in last January, Google acquired HTC’s smartphone team and then the UTC U12+ failed to perform well in the market, which raises the speculations that HTC might leave its phone business. But the company denied these rumours. Of course, the mobile division of HTC is not doing so well at the moment, and a 5G ready smartphone might help it turn things around. At the Mobile World Congress 2019, the company introduced its 5G hotspot – 5G Hub.
If HTC’s upcoming smartphone is indeed a 5G-ready device indeed, it is probably powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC. For more specs of this device, let’s stay tuned in the coming time.
