6 Things You Didn't Know About The iPhone 11 Lineup

Apple focused most of its iPhone 11 event talking about the new camera set, so there were some other features not mentioned at the time.

Just a week ago, we were counting down to Apple’s iPhone 11 event, where it announced the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. As the tech giant focused most of the time talking about its new camera set with a new feature called slow-motion selfie, there were some other features not unveiled during the entire event.

And here are six features of the iPhone 11 that Apple didn’t mention last Tuesday.

Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 appeared on stage but wasn't really mentioned

All three phones of the iPhone 11 lineup have support for Wi-Fi 6 like the Galaxy S10 Plus.

In comparison with Wi-Fi 5, the next-generation wireless network will offer a higher top transfer speed, allow devices to deliver more info on a single individual transmission, allow more simultaneous devices on one router and access points. In addition, it will help sensors, as well as other wireless devices, converse battery power through scheduling transmissions, make facilities better, make performance faster in crowded places such as stadiums and airports.

However, Wi-Fi 6 hasn’t been officially rolled out yet and routers to support it are expensive. And no matter how good your router is, the top speed depends on what your carrier offers you. So this is a long shot.

Ultra-Wideband chip

The U1 allows easier file sharing between iPhone users

Apple didn’t say much about this at last Tuesday event, it instead details the feature on the product site. The tech giant developed the U1 processor for “spatial awareness,” helping your iPhone find other iPhones more accurately when they are near each other.

According to the company, this will improve AirDrop service that allows users to share files quickly with nearby Apple phones. When iOS 13.1 rolls out on September 30, the U1 will let you point your Apple phone toward that of someone else while AirDrop will let you share files with that device faster.

Apple tantalizingly said that it’s just the beginning. A lot of people believe that the new chip is, in fact, laying the groundwork for the long-anticipated smart tracker.

18W USB-C chargers included

The iPhone 11 lineup come with an 18W USB-C charger

While Android phones have supported fast charging for years, this feature has just made it to the iPhone 11. The iPhone maker said that the phone box will include a 5W chargers, but the more premium models will come with an 18W USB-C charger as well as a USB-C-to-Lightning cable. With the new charger, the iPhone 11 Pro can be recharged up to 50 percent within half an hour, Apple says.

More weight

The iPhone 11 has the same weight as the iPhone XR, but the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are heavier

The iPhone 11 is as heavy as the XR, but the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max weigh more than the 2018 counterparts. In particular, the iPhone 11 Pro is 11 grams heavier than the XS, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is 18 grams heavier than the XS Max.

The additional weight is likely attributed to the larger battery and bigger camera module.

iOS 13.1 to come 11 days after iOS 13

iOS 13.1 will come out on September 30, just 11 days after iOS 13

iOS 13 will come on September 19, and as the iPhone 11 goes on sale starting September 20, the phones will certainly have iOS 13 out of the box.

iOS 13.1 is an update to iOS 13, which is set to come out on September 30. It remains unclear what iOS 13.1 will offer, but it will enable the new AirDrop feature.

3D Touch is gone for good

3D Touch is dead and replaced with Haptic Touch

Last year, Apple started phasing out 3D Touch with the iPhone XR. Debuting in 2015, this feature first came to the iPhone 6S, letting users access additional menu options as well as commands by hard-pressing one finger against the display. But now, none of the iPhone 11 devices include this feature.

Apple has replaced it with Haptic Touch, which works quite the same but users now just have to long-press the screen rather than pressing harder than usual.
