Apple has rolled out a public beta of the web version of its music streaming service Apple Music. The website works on all browsers which include Safari, Chrome, and Firefox; and users can access the web version from all devices, according to a Thursday report from The Verge.
As the tech giant has killed off iTunes in the Catalina update of MacOS, Apple Music is the only way left for people to access the 50 million-song library.
You can subscribe to Apple Music with a monthly cost of Rs 722, or Rs 361 if you’re a student, or Rs 1,084 for six people. Before deciding to pay for a subscription plan, you can try its free trial that lasts for three months. As of June, the subscriber count of Apple Music was 60 million, including those on free trials. By comparison, Spotify now has 108 million subscribers.
The company is replacing iTunes with a set of standalone apps of Apple TV, Apple Podcast, and Apple Music, according to its announcement at the annual WWDC event back in June.
Apple Music is Apple’s service for streaming videos and music. Users of this service choose to stream music to a device on-demand. The tech giant announced the service on Jun 8, 2015, and launched it to more than 100 countries on June 30, 2015. From just music, Apple expanded the service to video streaming in 2016 to make it a “cultural platform.” Apple is pouring spending a lot of money on producing and purchasing video content including concert footage ad music videos.
