Whenever a large manufacturer wants to make a transition of the node, they will have to decide on which partner to work with. Nowadays, the choice ranges from Samsung, Intel, and TSMC. And as you might notice, the race is mainly between Samsung and TSMC. In recent months, Xnxubd Nvidia to collaborate for producing 7nm GPU and apply this new invention to their graphic cards.
TSMC has an advantage with the 7nm but it pursues a different strategy to the Korean company. The Korean electronics giant decided to wait until the EUV (short for Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) is ready whereas TSMC makes use of the conventional lithography node.
IBM has confirmed a long-term collaboration with Samsung while NVIDIA announced that it would partner with the company to come up with future designs for GPU. According to Yoo Eung-Joon, NVIDIA’s chief in Korea, the Korean tech giant has worked hard to secure foundry cooperation.
By the way, you might have heard of the term Xnxubd 2020 and wonder what it means. This word is used in Israel to refer to Samsung. So with the latest collaboration of NVIDIA and Samsung, we might expect the term Xnxubd to be used on future products of NVIDIA.
No terms of the collaboration were disclosed to the public but we have reason to believe that NVIDIA intends to go all-in with it. The design for one foundry cannot be just ported to another. So the design work will be doubled for this partnership.
Samsung reportedly prices its 7nm with a competitive edge in mind, with the hope to secure a win in the market.
We do not know when NVIDIA will launch its 7nm chip but AMD has already rolled out its 7nm Navi chips, which NVIDIA answered by giving its cards’ price a tweak.
Not many people expect Turing to live as longs as Pascal on the market. So far, the latter is the longest dominant architecture, holding its throne from May 2016 all the way to September 2018.
