Walmart has just sued Tesla after solar panels manufactured by this clean energy firm caught fire at up to seven of the US retail corporation’s stores. The reason behind it was allegedly because these products didn’t meet the vital requirement concerning the safety practices.
According to the suit, Walmart pointed out that
Walmart said that Elon Musk’s company failed to ground its solar systems and electrical systems. It also accused Tesla of regularly sending inspectors that "lacked basic solar training and knowledge." Walmart believed that there were a lot of visible defects in the solar panels from Tesla.
Only a few hours after the leaked news, there was over 1 percent drop in Tesla’s stock.
According to a court filing, the renowned electric vehicle company was also facing many other accusations from Walmart including breach of contract, serious carelessness, as well as its inability to satisfy industry standards.
In case Walmart manages to sue Tesla, Musk’ company will have to pay damages due to the breach of contract, and more notably, it will dismantle all of its solar panels out of more than 240 Walmart stores.
It is likely that Tesla will rapidly take action, or even hit back against the retail corporation. At the time, it has made a great effort to recover its own solar business. In Quarter 2, its solar power capacity just attained 29MW while in the peak period, the number used to hit over 200MW. Obviously, Tesla doesn’t hope that it will bear any other damage or any bad publicity.
