Telegram has introduced its new feature dubbed Slow Mode. With this feature, group administrators now can control how often members could send a message in their group. When an admin enables Slow Mode in the group, members must wait 30 seconds or even up to an hour to send their next message. Telegram said this new feature can make conversations in the group more well-ordered and raise each message’s value. You can keep Slow Mode on permanently, or toggle when necessary.

Technology platforms are now struggling to find a way to tackle the misinformation-spreading on messaging services. An example is WhatsApp, which is itself eliminating fraudulent users during the registration process by using machine learning techniques. It also has limited how often users could forward text messages. Since then, the content’s virality on WhatsApp has dropped about 25% to 30%, according to Shivnath Thukral, the director of Facebook’s Public Policy in India and South Asia.

Although Telegram has largely been immune to such controversies, it doesn’t say that “Slow Mode” is the way to deal with the misinformation-spreading. It says this feature will give more peace of mind to users. Telegram lets up to 200,000 users join a group, while WhatsApp allows just 256 users to take part in a group.

Telegram has introduced a series of interesting features as well. There is a silent message option, which means you can send any message without sound by holding the Send button. Your recipient’s phone will get a notification but it won’t make any sound that can disturb their job or sleep. It also lets you set custom titles for admins and animate your emojis. Besides, you can now see preview thumbnails when scrubbing through a video on Telegram.
Prior to this, the app introduced in June some location-flavored features that allow users to exchange their contact details quickly without having to enter numbers.
