In a competitive market like India, every corporation must be highly innovative to take part in the second-largest consumer market. One of the best players in India is Reliance Jio, the dominant in the telecom market. The company continues widening its businesses to touch every part in the life of Indians. By the time, the Indian giant is gonna merge a chatbot maker named Haptik into its core business. This Jio's expansion will seriously challenge other incumbents such as Alexa and Google Home.
The plan comes after several other transactions of Jio, such as the notable app Saavn. Now it is rebranded in the name of JioSaavn under the control of Jio. On the other hand, Haptik is a platform that allows users to use a voice assistant in various fields like e-shopping, travel booking and so on. The Mumbai-based app was built up by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev in 2013 and rapidly expanded into the market. Due to a strategic partnership with Times Internet in 2016, Haptik was able to go further in product development as well as enhancement of AI functioning.
According to a recent report, the transaction is priced at over Rs 200 Cr. Reliance Jio is supposed to completely take over the business by this week. With this new deal, Haptik will directly take on Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Though it might be a struggling mission, Jio expects to gain a massive number of customers due to its own current ecosystem in India.
