On April 08, the petition against the Madras High Court order that asks the Indian government to ban TikTok (a popular video app from China) was sent to the Supreme Court.

A few days ago, Ranjan Gogoi – the 46th Chief Justice of India – headed a bench concerning the matter.
On April 04, the High Court of Madras ordered the government to prohibit the application due to its ability to encourage pornography. In addition, the media has been restricted to telecast videos recorded via TikTok.
The Madurai Bench (the Madras High Court) including S S Sundar and Justices N Kirubakaran, after that, passed the order.
The order officially came into effect after the court realized that TikTok users as children can contact with inappropriate content like pornography via the app. Besides, strangers will have much more chances to get in touch with children.

The court also required the government to submit a report containing all of the steps that need to be conducted by the authorities to ban TikTok.
In addition to the state government, the central government was asked to give its response before the day of April 16 arrives. Until now, the Chinese app TikTok has welcomed more than 540 lakhs active users from India per month.
