For people who don’t want to buy their own cars, there’s one more reason to ask to the list as Ola has just launched “Ola Drive”, its rental service for self-drive cabs.
The service has first been rolled out in Bengaluru and will later come to Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Mumbai, according to the company’s statement.
In the Ola app, Ola Drive will be a brand new category. The service is available for Bengaluru users via pick-up stations which can be found around different residential as well as commercial areas.
Users have the option to book a car based on their own preferences for a minimum of two hours. They will have to pay a security deposit which starts at Rs 2,000.
Ola said that by 2020, its plan is to have around 20,000 cars to scale up the self-drive car rental across different Indian cities. Ola’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Arun Srinavas said that Ola Drive would help to transform the car-sharing market of India for the next ten years. For the launch’s first phase, customers will get access to Ola Drive as a “short-term car-sharing service.” But in the future, the company is looking into introducing long-term subscriptions as well as corporate leasing and many more options.
All Ola Drive cars will have Ola Play-the company’s connected car platform which is enabled via a 7-inch touchscreen device. Other utilities include GPS, Bluetooth connectivity, and media playback.
Users can also access the platform’s support as well as safety features like a 24/7 helpline, real-time tracking, and emergency button to receive immediate help from the dedicated safety response team of Ola.
Roadside assistance will also be included in the service to make sure users have comfortable but reliable and secure driving experience.
