Ola Launches Its Services In London With Over 25,000 Drivers

Around four months ago, Ola, a cab-hailing company from India, announced that it would start operating in London, UK. Today, the company has finally launched its services in the British capital. In its official press release, the company wrote that it would offer three different categories: Comfort, Comfort XL, and Exec. Also according to Ola, there have been over 25,000 drivers registered since last November when it began its onboarding process.

The company announced that it had partnered with DriveTech, Pearson, and Mercer to ensure that its customers would have the best experience. With safety being its focus, each of Ola’s drivers had to take a “risk assessment” test to enhance their drive skills as well as knowledge.

To make each car journey safer for both the drivers and riders, Ola is also deploying its AI-powered safety feature named “Guardian.” The feature was first rolled out in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune back in September 2018. In 2019, Ola launched the feature in several cities in India as well as Australia. The feature makes use of real-time data from each ride to detect irregular activity automatically, including unexpected route derivations and prolonged stops.

Just like Indian users, Londoners will get to use Ola’s 24/7 support for drivers and riders as well as 4-digit PIN to match drivers and customers correctly. To celebrate the launch of its services, passengers of Ola can receive free ride vouchers if they sign up in the first week.

Ola first entered the UK back in 2018. South Wales is its first destination with Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol following along. The company claims that it had provided over 3 million rides in the country with more than 11,000 drivers.
