During the WWDC 2019, Apple has unveiled the new iOS 13 with several features which will arrive soon in the late months of 2019. To bolster the security for customers, the world’s largest phone maker also announced a dedicated feature let them know where an app has tracked its location data. The latest Apple’s operating system for the iPhone is supposed to make clearer for users as they can acknowledge more about how their data be tracked. A small map will be designed to give us a closer look, then it will report to users in which roads and streets have an app recorded your presence as well as the frequency.
As per some screenshots captured by 9to5Mac, users can easily see a map showing where the app has tracked the location data. In addition, the number of spots will result in how many times the location got tracked during the trip.
Furthermore, this feature is not only unlimited to third-party services but also apps Apple-owned apps. To give users more details, the notification of location map will show the reasons why it needs background location access. For example, it will prompt “Tesla uses your location to show your proximity to your vehicle, and to optimize phone key on your support vehicles”. In the App Store case, it was mentioned: “We’ll provide you with relevant products, features, and services depending on where you are.”
The report also said that users will receive such periodic reminds in the iOS 13. There are also two options to let apps continue using location or “only while using” the app. The new iOS 13 will come with a new option which allows users let an app access location ‘just one’.
Apart from this, iOS 13 is expected to come with several dedicated features to bolster both the user experience and privacy.
