More Indians Are Using Reliance Jio As A Primary SIM For Voice Calls, Reports Show

In just 2018 alone, there was an increase in the usage of Reliance Jio SIM cards as the primary network choice for making voice calls, according to a report from UBS. The report shows that over nine out of ten Jio subscribers (92 percent) made voice calls via the network from December 2018 to January 2019, as opposed to 83 percent during March and April 2018.
In addition, according to a survey covering 13 of India’s cities, between December 2018 and January 2019, the use of Airtel network as the primary data SIM rose by 12 percent, from 83 percent in March and April 2018 to 95 percent.

The survey received responses from customers in several regions including New Delhi, Allahabad, Raipur, Salem, Alwar, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Vishakhapatnam, Patna, Nagpur, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Mumbai. Moreover, when comparing the December 2018-January 2019 period and March-April 2018, the percentage of feature phone owners among JioPhone users decreased to 11 percent from 17 percent.
Plus, a recent IANS report indicated that Reliance Jio has the most subscribers as of 2018 with 93.24 lakh more users from around India, the figure was higher than all other telecom providers. On the other hand, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) revealed that Jio has approximately 29 crore subscribers.

By the end of January 2019, there are, in total, 118.19 crore wireless subscribers in India, which is 59.74 lakh higher than that of December 2018.
