As usual, Musk chose Twitter as the platform to inform the new events of Tesla.
According to the latest revelation, the company will hold the event at its design studio, which belongs to one of the SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, Los Angeles.
The Model Y is a successor of the Model 3. Tesla’s customers have been expecting the arrival of this new model for a long time, and the March may be the most ideal moment because, in its history, Tesla has introduced its new products for many times at the same time each year. For example, three years ago, the Model 3 came to the public in April 2016. However, there have been also some exceptions including the Roadster and the Tesla Semi, which were introduced in November 2017.
The reason why Tesla has to rapidly release a new compact crossover is to compete with other automakers all over the world. At present, a lot of US consumers have chosen SUVs as their daily vehicles, instead of traditional four-door ones. The new kinds of SUVs are famous for the combination of SUV flexibility and driving characteristics that are similar to common cars.

Elon Musk also posted a tweet saying that the new electric car model would be around 10% more expensive than the Model 3 (it is now sold for $35,000). In addition, the Model Y would be 10 per cent bigger than its predecessor.
