Next Time, Instagram Users Can Co-Watch Video With Their Friends

Instagram is now testing a feature which enables its users to watch videos with their friends on the platform at the same time. The new feature also helps them to keep an eye on others’ reactions on videos via the smartphone’s cameras.

According to a report from Social Media Today on April 18, in the beginning, the app will display a split-screen view and allow users to choose face filters as well as visual tools for their own camera feeds.

The tech blogger Manchun Wong posted on her Twitter,

In addition to the ability to watch videos on Instagram with friends, users can use other interactive elements to hear and see their friends via a minimized window. The option now supports two viewers at the same time.

The report also pointed out,

The new feature of Instagram is said to have many similarities with the “Watch Party” feature that was introduced by Facebook and helped users to see public videos in reality with their group on the app.

In July 2018, Facebook first rolled out Watch Party. The company also stated that it has collected more than 120 lakhs “Watch Parties” in Groups. Considering the number of comments, the feature gets 8 times as many as other video contents in Groups.

Until now, the photo-messaging application hadn’t made any comment on its new feature, from the testing process to when it will be officially rolled out in the market.
