Indian telcos, including Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone have come up with another policy to help customers stay connected during the lockdown. According to the new offer, prepaid users can now recharge other numbers.
This policy was made public after the three telcos were asked by the telecom regulatory body to help users with longer validity and free talk time.
The new ability to online recharge other phone numbers comes with an incentive of cashback for anyone doing so.
Reliance Jio
Jio recently launched an app named JioPOS Lite. The app is available for Android users for the time being.

To use it, users must enter their Jio numbers and then wait for Jio to verify the account. Please bear in mind that it will ask you for permission to access your location, contact list, and storage.
The last step is to fill in an MPIN with four digits to make sure that only you can use the recharge functionality.
To start using the new function, users must have some money in their accounts. You will also have Rs 4.166 cashback for every recharge worth Rs. 100.
Vodafone Idea
Subscribers of Idea or Vodafone can use this recharge function right on the My Idea or MyVodafone app.

The new feature is now limited to prepaid users only and users can have up to 6% cashback.
The offer is valid until the end of April, which is also the time the lockdown order is supposed to be lifted.
Airtel
A similar offer is available for Airtel users via the Airtel Thanks app. When subscribers help someone else with recharging, they are subjected to a 4% discount.
Telcos Feel The Pinch
You might wonder why telcos offer cashback and encourage users to help others recharge while the regulatory body asks them to provide free talk time and extend the validity.
It turns out that with all the financial stress these telcos are going through, this is the best they can do.
