The founder and President of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei, has stated that the world can’t lack the “more advanced” technologies offered by the company.
In recent times, the Chinese telecommunication company has kept fighting against the spying allegations from the US, as well as the attacks from the US’s international allies. However, pushing Huawei out of the race of 5G network seems not to be an easy story. As a piece of evidence, on February 18, in an interview with the BBC, Ren believed that the tactic will end up with nothing.
In addition, he confirmed that there are a lot of options for his company to expand its business.
He also mentioned the arrest of Huawei CFO (his daughter), Meng Wanzhou, in Canada on December 2018. He described it as a "politically motivated act", but he decides to wait for the judgment from the court system.
The president claimed that the company hasn’t used its technology to spy on behalf of the Chinese government, which leads to its networking equipment being banned in the US market from 2012 to now.
Back to the interview with the BBC, Ren made a promise saying that his company would "continue to invest in the UK," after the nation said that the potential risk from Huawei equipment is manageable.
This is one of Ren’s rare speeches in front of foreign media, especially in the sensitive period of 2019. Last month, he sent his praise to the US President Donald Trump, and also shared that his company was “only a sesame seed” in the trade war between China and the US.
