Hongmeng OS Slated To Arrive In Smartwatches, Not Huawei Smartphones Or Tablets

Huawei users might soon have their Hongmeng OS-backed speakers, smartwatches or VR gadgets.

As revealed by a Huawei spokesperson, the company’s homegrown Hongmeng OS won’t make its own way to the on-the-go Huawei-branded lineups including smartphones and tablets. Strikingly, the company will support other gadgets in its product line with the custom operating system.

Back in August, the Chinese tech giant first introduced the Hongmeng OS after being added into the Trump’s Entity List. Generally, the entry to this list has kept Huawei away from being able to get core apps and services from Google, which is synonymous with Huawei users not having Android experiences anymore. As planned, the Hongmeng OS was found on a Huawei smart TV, which was also introduced in August.

The homegrown operating system now is slated to arrive in more of Huawei gadgets in the coming years. For instance, users might soon have their Hongmeng OS-backed speakers, smartwatches or VR gadgets. Keep in mind that a bunch of core products like computers, tablets, or smartphones won’t come packed with Harmony OS, at least for now.

Not long ago, the Chinese company talked up about its prospective of remaining as the top smartphone brand in the world irrespective of lacking Google apps and services. Amongst all, GMS, which stands for Google Mobile Services, has been considered the most important thing Huawei can’t approach – then the company started developing a similar service called Huawei Mobile Services to stop relying on Google.

For your information, the Huawei Mate 30 did hit the market for quite a while and it doesn’t sport any American part under the hood. If the US government doesn’t lift the ban on Huawei anytime soon, it’s highly potential that the Chinese giant will find many other ways to evolve by itself.
