Is Google Possibly Renaming Smart Speakers As Nest Home?

Is Google having plans to rebrand its smart speakers as Google refers to Home speakers as "Nest Home" for the second time?

Last month, Google Home was briefly referred as "Nest Home" by a Google Store listing. On July 1st, the official Twitter account Made by Google used the name again, this time with the "Nest Home Max."

The tweet was about the speaker group feature of Google Home which allows multiple devices to play music in synce. The Home Max was featured in the video as an example, but was called the "Nest Home Max." An attached link leads users to a Store Page whether users can only find "Google Home Max."

Less than an hour later, the tweet was taken down.

Last month, on the "Special Offers" page of the Google Store, the Google Home's customizable bases were on sale. And instead of, "Base for Google Home", customers could only find "Nest Home Base."

In the terms and conditions, the new name could also be found.

At that time, after 9to5Google contacted Google, the company changed the listing, stating it had no plans to update its listing.

After 9to5Google contacted Google, the company changed the name back to Google Home.

Back at I/O 2019, the company did confirm that it would use the "Google Nest" branding for its smart speaker lineup. It is possible that the updated names would be given to new audio devices, for example the Google Home successor rumored to be coming later in 2019.

Back in May, the company rebranded its Home Hub to Nest Hub, however, there have been no changes made to other Home devices. Compared to the Google Home Max which was first launched in 2017, the Smart Display has only been on the market for seven months.
