The search engine giant Google currently offers two backup options in Google Photos: Original Quality and High Quality. In India, Google Photos has added the new Express Backup option within its storage. It was tested with a few Android users since the last December and are ready for all Android users now. The latest update for all Android devices will reflect the Express backup option in Google Photos soon by the end of this week.
In India, where the Wi-Fi connectivity isn’t stable, the new option is expected to result in a shorter time for backup. The Express option help users to experience better as the storage will store the data at a reduced resolution without a need of high-speed internet connection. Moreover, Google Photos does not eliminate the old backup options, so users can still export high-quality and original-quality images as long as they have a good internet connection.
A Google representative has claimed that the new option would help the users to save memories easier and faster even when their Wifi connection is infrequent or bad. Instead of waiting for hours, even days, for a good connection to be able to upload your media, Google Photos will do a quick backup to ensure the necessary photos and videos won't be lost.
Google has also announced the quality of data when users take the Express backup option. Google Photos will downsize the videos to 480p and compress all photos to around 3 megapixels. In addition, Google rolls out an option for backup when using mobile data, which called Data Cap. This option is supposed to let users select from various daily data caps, including 5MB, 10MB or 30MB. This function ensures that the backup using mobile data is under control.
Google plans to bring the same features to other markets as well.
