Google officially announced that its instant messaging app “Allo” developed for mobiles has disappeared out of its available app store after the company stopped investments concerning the app.
First introduced in 2016, “Allo” gained many expectations from its developers as well as interests from its users; however, what it brought seemed not to be really ideal.
According to The Verge report, on the app’s official website, Google put a banner saying that the last day Allo operated was March 12.
In April 2018, as a head of Google’s communications group, Anil Sabharwal admitted that the instant messaging app “Allo” didn’t reach the attraction as the company had expected.
However, we can’t deny some of the prominent features the app offered to its users. As a piece of evidence, Google has brought these features to the Messaging app for Android smartphones. They are desktop support and smart replies.
“Allo” worked as a messaging app that supports both the two famous mobile operating systems including iOS and Android. In addition, it also has a web client running on three various browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome.
Along with Allo’s disappearance, Google will focus more on its RCS services (Rich Communication Services) which is considered as an alternative of SMS on Android platform.
