New Google Maps Update Lets You Share Real-Time Location Of Your Public Transport

With the latest update on Google Maps, you can now let your friends know where you're exactly are on a journey.

Google has recently released its latest update for Google Maps to the public. If you want the latest stable version of Google Maps, you should download its new server-side update as it contains the latest functions and improvements.

The new update delivers a host of enhancements such as real-time ETAs and traffic conditions, real-time transit info and live traffic, incidents, and road closures. Now you can use Share Location feature for Google Maps which will let you share your real-time location.

With this feature,  you can broadcast your location for a set time, select approved contacts, or simply create and share a link with your location information. In addition, with Live transit info feature, you can enhance your experience of your transit services by providing transit updates in real-time or even makes it easier to hail a taxi.

You can now easily catch your bus, train, or ride-share and find the fastest route using public transport by using Live transit info feature.

Here are some guidelines that will help set up and use this feature easily.

  • Enter your destination
  • Tap on the symbol of a train
  • You can choose from among the options and then step-by-step instructions for practicing are listed in detail.
  • Tap on the Share Trip button at the bottom right corner to select the desired route and share it
  • Tap on the Share Trip button at the bottom right corner to select the desired route and share it with your Google contacts or your social messages app such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Gmail. Moreover, this feature also supports the SMS app.

These new features are only available for Android users, however, an update for Google Maps on iOS is due to release very soon.

Nonetheless, notice that the information may be disrupted or delayed if you ride underground metro trains or poor GPS and Internet connectivity in similar situations.
