According to Business Insider, Google has restricted its employees from traveling to Italy, Iran, Japan, and South Korea because of Coronavirus outbreaks in these countries. Meanwhile, an Amazon spokesperson told The Verge that it had required its employees to delay all unnecessary trips, even domestic ones.
All trips to China had been halted by both companies. Google has temporarily closed all of its offices in mainland China since the end of January. A spokesperson of the company recently confirmed that one of its employees in Zurich, Switzerland tested positive for the deadly virus.

In his email to the company’s employees, Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president announced that employees should not arrange meetings requiring travel until the end of April. For the aviation industry, Amazon is one of the biggest customers. In 2017, the e-commerce giant bought $220 million dollars of airline tickets. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Amazon has canceled all job interviews and replaced them with chat videos.
On the other hand, Game Developers Conference 2020 – the world’s largest annual game event, has been postponed until summer because of the epidemic. Initially, the event was scheduled from March 16 to March 20. The organizer came to this decision after carefully discussing with its partners. There is no information regarding the exact dates of the event. Before the final announcement of the delay of the event, giant tech companies including Facebook, Microsoft, Sony, Epic Games, and Sony had already withdrawn from participating in the event.

Facebook also canceled its F8 developer conference and global marketing conference in fear of the Coronavirus outbreak. The same happened to the Geneva Motor Show 2020.
