Five months ago, the Google Assistant learned to sing a song detailing how to wash your hands properly in attempts to help tackle the spread of viruses and germs. This week, however, the voice assistant has leaned a new tune to remind people to wear a face mask before going to public places.
The new song is based on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, straightforwardly requesting people to put on a face mask that covers both their mouth and nose to protect themselves from the coronavirus.
Wearing a mask is the minimum and easy things we can do to help limit the spread of COVID-19, which has been requested since the start of the pandemic. So it’s pretty sad that we have to resort to the Google Assistant to urge people to do this.
The new song about putting on a mask is still new to release so it’s possible that the Google Assistant on your phone hasn’t learned it yet. In that case, you can listen to the song in the following video:
For now, it’s not clear what command you will need to make to have the Google Assistant sing the mask song as most people have encountered the new song just by saying “Hey Google, sing me a song,” then having Google automatically choose the mask song.
Let’s hope that the new tune will be rolled out to more devices quickly and will help more people remember to put on a mask.
