Although the Chinese government is investigating FedEx over misrouted parcels, that doesn’t mean the nation has the intention to retaliate against the United State company due to the increasingly intense Sino-US trade war.

According to the report from the Global Times on June 23, Fed Corp blamed an ‘operational error’ for not shipping products manufactured by Huawei to the United States. The Memphis-based delivery services company sent an apology to the Chinese tech giant for this error.

As picked up by the Chinese newspaper, FedEx made a statement saying that “FedEx can accept and transport all Huawei products except for any shipments addressed to listed Huawei entities on the US Entity List.”

For those unknown, the Global Times is a daily newspaper that was founded in 1993 and belongs to the People’s Daily newspaper of the Communist Party in China.

At the beginning of June 2019, the Chinese government conducted an investigation into this US company concerning that it failed to deliver some parcels of Huawei to the correct addresses. At that time, Huawei stated that it would review the company’s ties with FedEx. As per the US delivery company, it said: “no external parties requested that FedEx transfer these packages.”

A few months have gone by since China and the United States have begun a new trade dispute over a series of issues including subsidies, technology, tariffs, cybersecurity, and regulations. Right after that, the US government under the leadership of President Donald Trump blacklists Huawei and many other Chinese tech companies over national security concerns.

On June 23, FedEx hasn’t still made any comment on this issue when being interviewed by Reuters.
