Facebook Just Helped Elizabeth Warren Prove Her Point

Facebook advertising department reportedly pulled down the Senator campaign ads that advocate breaking up tech giants.

It looks like the Facebook team has helped Elizabeth Warren prove why it should be broken up. The company’s advertising department reportedly pulled down the Senator campaign ads that advocate breaking up tech giants.

The news came from Politico, who said Facebook pulled the ads for using the FB brand in their copy.

But the social network didn’t remove other ads which Warren’s Presidential campaign run that addressed the plan to unwind various acquisitions by Alphabet, Amazon, and Facebook.

The removal, while did not last long, did offer the Warren campaign support for their argument as well as various tweets, retweets, and headlines.

In response, a spokesperson of Facebook said that the ads were pulled down due to violations of their policies against using the company’s logo. The spokesperson confirmed that the ads were restored for the sake of the debate.

It was a good move of the public relations team at Facebook to restore the ads, especially when they don’t include the company’s logo.

Unfortunately, they could only restore the ads, not undo what they’ve done. Their action has illustrated Warren’s point of how much power and control big tech has to impact the spread of information.
