On May 17, the Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg made her judgment concerning a recent idea about the breakup of the leading social networking service company. She believed that even when the idea was applied, “underlying issues” couldn’t be tackled. In addition, it may bring a lucrative opportunity for many tech rivals from China.

In an interview with CNBC on TV, Sandberg was required to show what she thoughts relating to the recent calls to disintegrate a series of major tech companies in Silicon Valley including Facebook. All of these companies have dominated important sectors in the world.
Here was her answer, “You could break us up, you could break other tech companies up, but you actually don’t address the underlying issues people are concerned about.”
Accordingly, the social network platform with over 2 billion active users has made a lot of efforts to tackle issues like data protection, online violence promotion, or election security. However, a breakup may not bring any considerable value but create an ideal chance for Facebook’s tech rivals from China. Sandberg said,


About seven days ago, Chris Hughes, one of the co-founders of Facebook, said that “it’s time to break up Facebook” when realizing that the tech giant has held too much power – towards what we are seeing on the Internet – on its hands.
Another figure seems to have the same thought as Chris Hughes. That’s Democrat Elizabeth Warren, a candidate of the 2020 Presidential election. She has recently called for a Facebook breakup and required WhatsApp and Instagram to disengage from the company.
In addition, Sandberg also emphasized that Facebook employees are attempting to working on security and safety issues, as well as tackling comments after the company has been strictly criticized due to many missteps such as the 2016 data breach.

She noted,

A few days ago, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that he felt optimistic about the development of a new regulatory framework which will be applicable for internet platforms.
