On Oct 22, Uber announced that it has partnered with Delhi Metro. This partnership allows the launch of a brand new feature for journey planning called “Public Transport”. With this new feature, the Uber app will be integrated with Metro as well as the public bus service of the city. Once the plan is initiated, whenever users enter a destination on their Uber apps, there will be an option for “Public Transport,” along with Pool, Go, Premier as well as other standard options.

According to Uber, once riders select the “Public Transport” feature, the app will display routes that are fastest and cheapest. The information displayed also includes public transportation’s departure time, walking directions for nearby bus stops and Metro stations.
Points for picking up and dropping off will be set up at 210 metro stations in the Delhi NCR region.
Another notable thing is that the partnership will allow Delhi Metro users to use the Uber app to book for their tickets, instead of having to queue at the stations. But users need to keep in mind that, while they can use the Public Transport feature immediately, there’s no detail on the time for the release of the ticket-booking functionality. There is much information on its working mechanism either. So users will probably need to wait to see how it works.
Meanwhile, in the company’s official blog post, Uber said that the partnership will undoubtedly provide commuters with easier daily commute since the riders will get the info that they need to have the smartest possible journey options.
