Facebook is testing the dark mode for its Android and iOS apps. The new mode was unveiled last Friday by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong who shared a video that was made in collaboration with the social giant.
The social giant already offers an option to set the dark mode for the Facebook desktop version along with other mobile apps such as Messenger and WhatsApp. While many users prefer a darker background in apps, the dark mode has also been said to help save battery life and reduce eye strain for those using their phones in low-light conditions.
On Mondy, a Facebook spokesperson said in an emailed statement:
“We know people have been asking for dark mode, and they won't have to wait much longer. People will start to see the option in their Facebook app settings as we roll it out globally over the next few weeks.”

How to turn on dark mode on Facebook
To enable dark mode on your Facebook app, you need to first open the app. Then, open the More menu by tapping on the three-dash icon at the upper-right corner of the app and scroll down until you see Settings & Privacy, tap on it.
If you are part of the test, you will see Dark Mode on this list. Next, tap on Dark Mode, after which you will see three options including On, Off, and System that will adjust the dark mode in accordance with the system settings on your phone.
Recently, the tech giant officially started allowing users to send messages from Messenger to Instagram as part of its plan to merge its three messaging platforms Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
