You Can Now Know Your Exact Location With Google's Live View

Google 's Live View can now tell exactly where you are. All you have to do is to point your phone's camera to buildings and signs around you

Google’s Live View was launched in 2019 to help users get around easier and this year, the search engine giant added a new ability to Live View, allowing users to calibrate their location in Maps opened on Android devices.

In urban areas, it’s quite hard to pinpoint an exact location because of interference from surrounding buildings and low visibility. As GPS is of little help in these areas, Google launched a solution making use of Street View and your phone’s camera to tell you where you are.

Here is how you can use this feature.

Tap on the location dot in Maps and choose the ‘Calibrate with Live View’ option. The next step is to point your phone’s camera to street signs and buildings. When the app collects enough information, the blue dot will stop jumping around.

However, please note that this function is useable only in areas where Street View is available.

All Android handsets with support for ARCore will have access to this new function. Another requirement is your Google Maps must be the latest version.
