Amazon Has Canceled AWS Mumbai Summit Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak

Following large tech giants, Amazon has also canceled its summit in Mumbai, India, due to growing concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

The coronavirus outbreak is impacting on important events around the world, not just schools anymore. Over the past week, we have learned that big tech giants like Google and Facebook have all canceled their annual conferences that attract thousands of people, not to mention the Mobile World Congress – the biggest mobile event of the world – which has been canceled too. The coronavirus outbreak has now spread to India with increasing cases and deaths confirmed, events are being canceled too.

On Wednesday, Amazon Web Services, the Cloud arm of retail giant Amazon, announced that its flagship Summit in India has been canceled due to growing concerns about the coronavirus outbreak. Previously, the event was scheduled to take place from April 7 to April 9 in Mumbai.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Amazon Web Services said that because of the increasing concerns around COVID-19, AWS has canceled its AWS Mumbai Summit. The spokesperson additionally said that the decision was made after much consideration regarding the safety and health of its customers, employees, as well as partners as the top priority.

Most companies are avoiding attending large events with huge numbers of people since the coronavirus spread can get worse in large gatherings.

On Tuesday, Realme and Xiaomi announced that they canceled their launch events in India in March due to the growing fears of COVID-19. Xiaomi previously planned to release a Redmi Note series on March 12 while Realme was supposed to unveil the Realme 6 as well as the Realme 6 Pro series today.

Now, both these events are digital-only and you can watch their live streams on their websites or on social media.
