Apple Will Reportedly Launch Its 5G-Enabled MacBook Pro In 2020

According to Digitimes, Apple is in preparation to launch its first cellular MacBook models in 2020 with ceramic components for a faster 5G speed

According to Digitimes, Apple is in preparation to launch its first cellular MacBook models in 2020 with the release of 5G-enabled MacBooks. It is believed that the iPhone maker will make use of a ceramic antenna component to enhance the performance of 5G connection.

For now, no other source besides Digitimes has claimed this information to be true, so the best thing we can do now is to maintain a certain level of skepticism. It might be true that Apple is preparing for cellular-enabled notebooks, but 2020 is just too soon for that to happen. When it comes to Apple’s intention with 5G, it is highly likely that the iPhones will be the first to enjoy this upgrade.

Digitimes said that Apple would utilize ceramic material in the 5G antenna board instead of the usual metals like other companies do, which is expected to bring about a better performance in reception and transmitting speed.

Ceramic may boost the speed of 5G by two times, but this material cost six times as much as the usual pick for components. However, Apple has made a name for itself as a company that provides premium handsets, so this is not at all a risky decision.

The 5G-enabled feature might come to either MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, and as said by Digitimes, these devices would be ready to be launched in 2020.

This year, Apple has planned to release new MacBook Pro with a display measuring 16 inches and narrower bezels. A significant change to be expected with this launch is the new scissor-switch mechanism to replace the controversial and troublesome butterfly keyboard.

This new model might be an addition to the current MacBook Pro lineup rather than a replacement for the 15-inch model.
