More and more people are buying smartwatches from Apple, resulting in a total shipment of 31 million Apple Watch units in 2019, Strategy Analytics reported. The report also revealed that this number was way higher than the total shipment of the entire Swiss watch industry, which was 21 million last year. Apple sold 10 million more watches than the Swiss watch industry, stated in the Wednesday press release of the tech analysis company.
The most recently launched Apple Watch was the Series 5, in October last year. This Apple Watch price is $399, but the Apple Watch price in India for the Series 5 is Rs 40,900, and it now features an always-on screen.
Strategy Analytics’ senior analyst Steven Waltzer said that the reasons behind the popularity of Apple smartwatches in Asia, Western Europe, and Noth America include an attractive design along with sticky apps that are user-friendly.
In the previous year, 2018, the entire Swiss watch industry shipped 24 million units while Apple smart watch sold 22.5 million devices. Strategy Analytics stated that Swiss firms like Swatch, Tissot and TAG Heuer, are losing to smartwatches.
Announced on September 10, 2019, the Watch Series 5 is powered by the S5 chip, which is 2 times faster than the S3 chip. Those who buy this Apple Watch can go for gold options, which include leather straps that Apple hasn’t launched since the original Watch Series. Besides, the Watch Series 5 comes with 32GB of storage, twice the memory space of previous models. Last but not least, the device comes runs on watchOS 6.
As Apple Watch is getting more and more popular around the world, let’s hope that Apple smart watch price in India will go down over time.
