According to the latest announcement from Apple, the company has started manufacturing its iPhone 7 model in India. iPhone 7 will be the third device that Apple assembled in the country, after iPhone 6S and low-budget iPhone SE. Little by little, another iPhone model coming from the local region will ensure the company’s initiative “Made in India”.
In a press statement, Apple told that iPhone 7 will be assembled along with the iPhone 6S and iPhone SE at its local manufacturing plant, which located in Bengaluru. The tech giant also points out the name of this contract manufacturer, Wistron, a company from Taiwan. This decision follows an approval which Wistron got from the Indian government to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the country.

This reportedly comes with the aim of producing high-end Apple products in India.
In addition, the company is phasing out iPhone 6 and 6S models in stages for the Indian market. As a consequence, iPhone 7 seems to become the entry-level model across the country. India is becoming not only an attractive consumer market but also a manufacturing hub for future plans of the tech giant.

Previously, Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that the tech giant has witnessed a decline in iPhone sales in India due to “weak macro-transactions” and foreign exchange. However, it does not mean the price of the iPhone 7 will be dropped. Instead of that, Apple is aiming to invest the profits to push up sales and marketing aggressively.
