A very egregious rumor has surfaced, saying that Apple is crafting a pair of special edition AR glasses that resemble Steve Jobs’ glasses. The rumor was reported by Cult of Mac, who also said that the tech giant will sell the glasses for money.
This news is from YouTuber Jon Prosser, who has got a lot of attention for accurately predicting Apple’s business. But this is nothing but a rumor, sorry guys.
It turns out that the Cupertino-based company is, indeed, working on AR glasses, but the pair will look nothing like Steve Jobs’ glasses. Apple’s AR glasses are expected to come out by 2025.
In 2019, media spotted the code for iOS that’s related to stereoscopic AR, leading to rumors around a close launch date of the product. But since then, only more rumors came out instead of official information.
Prosser teased last week that he had seen a pair of glasses from the iPhone maker, saying the company would unveil the product in the 2021 summer. The YouTuber even claimed to soon show off the glasses’ user interface. He teased more about the glasses this week, but as soon as his video surfaced, the proof was missing. He said that he was holding the proof until his lawyers approved.
Instead, Prosser summed up known rumors about the product, including Starboard, the codename for the AR operating system. Also, Apple’s AR glasses will rely on LiDAR rather than traditional cameras, priced from Rs 38,000, and release either late next year or early 2022.
