Apple takes a big hit as the Coronavirus stalls its production in China. However, that does not stop the iPhone maker from moving forward with its iPhone SE 2 endeavor.
As per a report released on Thursday, the entry-level iPhone with an LCD screen is now undergoing the final stage of engineering validation in China. This is when the hardware of the phone is tested and later, validated.
If things go according to plans, the next step is to validate and test the design before the phone can be mass-produced.
The report is from Digitimes and it also highlights that Zhenzhou, where the validation is happening, also houses assembly lines of Pegatron and Foxconn, two of Apple’s largest manufacturing partners.
In a previous report, it is suggested that the production duty would be shouldered by Pegatron, Foxconn, and Wistron.
Rumor has it that the new budget iPhone would be called iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9. It is highly likely that it would feature a 4.9-inch display and the design similar to that of the iPhone 8. The only difference is the internal hardware, with the A13 Bionic chip.
Security-wise, some sources have claimed that the iPhone SE 2 will have Touch ID. Do not expect Face ID as this advanced feature is still unique to premium iPhone lines. With the price of around Rs. 29,000, you cannot expect more than that anyway.
There is no denying that Apple is making a budget iPhone so that leads us to another question, when do they plan to launch it and in which countries?
Rumors suggest that the date might be the 31st of March but that is the information before the Coronavirus hits.
The first low-cost iPhone was revealed on the 21st of March, 2016. A year later, in 2017, the phone was re-released with another option for more storage.
