Apple has just been granted a patent on a foldable technology that has the potential to be the solution for the creaking and creasing of current devices, which we can see on all of the foldable devices on the market, from Samsung Z Flip to Huawei Mate X.
The patent comes under the name “System with multiple electronic devices.” It outlines a mechanism to make different electronics devices work as one when they are brought close to each other, with the help of proximity sensor.

What Apple wants to make is separate devices that can detect when they are close to each other and then created a shared display that can show content across them.
From the way Apple describes its patent, we can make out that it intends to test a foldable device making up of two separate parts that can work seamlessly with each other as one. This mechanism is similar to how Microsoft’s Surface Duo works.

Foldable phones is the latest trend in the tech world and while Apple has said nothing on making one of its own, the company has clearly thought of how it can create a bendable iPhones, evidence in the patents it has filed that suggests ways we can eliminate the creases and creaking that form after the devices have been in use for some time.
However, do not put your hope up just yet, patents are no indication of mass producing so we might have to wait for some more years for Apple to be sure that it wants to make foldable iPhones.
