AirPlay, which used to be limited to Apple TV only, is similar to the Cast from Google. It allows Mac and iOS users to directly stream content from their devices to a compatible television. In addition, the TVs is able to work with the HomeKit from Apple, which means you can control the TVs using your iPad, iPhone, or Mac with the help of Siri digital assistant.

Last week, LG started deploying its new software and will update its latest 2019 NanoCell TVs (excluding the SM8100 series), OLED TVs, and UHD TVs which carry the LG-made ThinQ AI capability. The new software will first come to the NanoCell and OLED TVs while other 4K UHV Televisions will get the software sometime later this year.

However, Vizio will be going even further; it will not only update its 2019 SmartCast TVs but will also roll out the update to older models dated back to 2016. Dubbed SmartCast 3.0, the rollout of the new software kicked off yesterday and will be going on over the next months.

Not just Vizio and LG, AirPlay 2 will also come to new Sony and Samsung smart TVs, with Samsung bringing the new update to some of its 2018 products.
