Users of Apple’s devices, including Apple Watch, iPhone, or iPad might experience lots of frustration in the last few days as if they receive a notification containing a particular string of text, their device will be crashed.
The effect of this string of text is such that it has gone viral and is used even more.
According to some reports, the texts contain Sindhi characters and the flag of Italy. However, others have showed that without the flag, the text can still crash Apple’s devices.
For some unknown reason, this string of text will make iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches stop responding or crash if it is sent with a notification. However, the fix is quite simple, all you have to do is to reboot the device and everything should be normal again.
What makes this bug so annoying is that the sequence can be from any app, be it the native or the third-party, and users may feel helpless as there is little they can do in the situation.
Some have tried to disable notifications but that is far from being a long term solution.
It is believed that Apple has the fix for this bug in iOS 13.4.5. However, this version is still in beta as we speak. Apple may pick up the pace if there are enough people complaining of hardware crashing and we will have to wait and see if that happens.
This is not the first time Apple devices crashed due to a bug. Back in 2015, the same thing happened with a different sequence. And in 2016, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches froze whenever a three-second video was played.
