Apple has finally allowed Indian customers customize their Mac computers.
With this update, Indians now have build-to-order and configure-to-order options to choose from, meaning you can have your custom needs, like more storage, better graphics card, satisfied when you purchase an Apple device.
This is a feature Apple offers in several other regions. So it comes as no surprise that India, a key market for American tech giants, comes next on the list. Before this, the iPhone maker allows only different variants of Mac devices, not specific upgrades.
Customers interested in this policy can pay a visit to Apple India website or contact the nearest Authorized Reseller of the company and tell the staff what kind of upgrades you in mind.
After placing the order, customers can have their custom device after four to five weeks.
According to Preshit Deorukhkar, an executive in Mumbai, this is a big deal for Apple and the company’s interested customers. Before this announcement, Indians were stuck with whatever Apple puts in the device for them, like 8 GB of RAM or a screen of 13 inches. Now you can have the device with the specs you want and Apple’s warranty on it.
While the pricing policy is a bit steep, you will have to pay Rs. 30,300 for an upgrade from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM, at least we get to choose what goes into our future device.
This update came out after Apples revealing its plan to open its first online store in India this year and an offline one next year.
According to a person with insight into the matter, despite COVID-19, Apple’s plan of an online store is still on track.
