Apple is considering halting iPhone 12 Mini production in the second quarter of 2021 due to the phone’s poor demand, according to several reports based on a JP Morgan Chase forecast note.
William Yang – a supply chain analyst of JP Morgan Chase, recently adjusted the forecast for the iPhone 12 lineup and future Apple handsets scheduled to be released later this year.
He reduced the production of the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 by 11 million and 9 million units respectively.
He wrote given the weak demand for iPhone 12 Mini, Apple might stop producing more of the model in the second quarter of 2021. However, according to him, the sales forecast for iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 11 will increase by 11 million, 2 million, and 8 million units.
Yang also predicted a growth in the production of the iPhone 13 lineup, reaching 80 million to 90 million units, compared to 76 million units for iPhone 12 lineup. There might not be a new iPhone SE this year, according to Yang.
iPhone 12 Mini is currently the lightest, smallest, and thinnest 5G-compatible handset in the world. It packs iPhone 12’s power and technology in a small form factor with an edge-to-edge display.
The phone sports a 5.4-inch screen and a dual-camera setup on the rear, all while looking absolutely modern and beautiful.
According to 'Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker,' Apple regained its top position in December last year with 90.1 million handsets shipped, courtesy of the iPhone 12 series’ success.
The Cupertino tech giant is reportedly ramping up Macs, iPhone, and iPad production in Vietnam and India to reduce its dependence on China.
According to a report, Apple will start manufacturing iPhone 12 in India this quarter.
