Every year, in September, Apple will unveil its newest iPhones. However, this year, we might have to a bit longer to finally get our hands on one.
In Apple’s recent earnings call, the company’s CFO Luca Maestri confirmed that the next generations of iPhones would be launched a little bit later this year.
According to Maestri, last year, Apple launched its new series of iPhones in late September. This year, the supply would be available a few weeks later.
Of course, no exact date or timeline was revealed. But he specifically mentioned the supply here, meaning that the sale of the next generation of iPhones could be further pushed. The reason could be production issues due to COVID-19. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also talked about this once.
It this happens, it isn’t the first time. Back when Apple launched its iPhone X back in 2017, the devices were only available for purchase in November, also because of production issues. The same thing happened with the iPhone XR. The smartphone was launched in September 2018 but went on sale in October due to LCD panel issues.
This year, it is possible that Apple would still unveil the smartphone series in September but consumers could only purchase them later in the year.
The leaks have been giving us a sneak peek into what we should expect from the iPhone 12 lineup. Through leaked dummy units, we know that this year’s iPhones will come in different sizes.
Leaks also hinted that there’s a chance that the iPhone earpods and charger won’t come with the new iPhones as Apple wants to cut costs while limiting e-waste.
