The recent arrest of Meng Wanzhou has suddenly put Huawei under the spotlight and drawn a lot of attention from the Western.
Huawei is mostly known for producing smartphones that are good enough to rival with Google’s, Samsung’s, and even Apple’s phones.
But currently, the company is under the scrutiny of the US for its CFO violated US trade sanctions.
Meng is not only the CFO of Huawei but also a Chinese royalty. Ren Zhengfei, Meng’s father, founded Huawei, and possess a massive total wealth of $3.2 billion.
According to the findings, Ren Zhengfei has got married three times, resulting in a lot of children, both daughters, and sons. Luckily, not all of them are so troubling.
In the Tweet, you see here is Annabel Yao, Ren’s youngest daughter, at a ball held in Paris for debutantes in November 2018.
Now, a few more things you may want to know about Ren.
Born on October 25, 1944, Ren came of age right before the start of the Cultural Revolution in China. Zhengfei is actually his first name since last names come first in Chinese.
Ren Zhengfei
Back in 2015, Ren mentioned his background as humble when talking to BBC. His parents gave birth to him in Guizhou, the poorest province in China, so poor that his family was considered rich when they had salt.
When Ren was 30 years old, he started working for the military as an engineer. Because of this, there have been questions about his relationship with the government as well as the army. In case you wonder if he’s been asked to spy by the government, he denied it.
Ren’s first wife is Meng Jun, with whom he had Meng Wanzhou in 1972, and a son named Ren Ping.
Meng Wanzhou took her mother’s surname, her other names are Sabrina Meng and Cathy Meng. Meng worked to become Huawei’s CFO and then was arrested in December 2018 in Canada.
Ren Ping is also known by Meng Ping. Though we hardly know anything about him, we do know that he is working for a Huawei’s subsidiary and it appears that he is not interested in taking over his father’s business.
The United States authorities suspected that Meng took part in hiding the connections between Huawei and Skycom, the small firm which sold Huawei’s kit to Iran, a violation of the US trade sanction against the country. China officials have shown their anger about Meng’s arrest.
In 1983, Ren Zhengfei took his retirement from China’s military, then he founded Huawei in 1987. The company is 12 years younger than Apple.
Huawei has grown to be China’s largest electronics brand. Besides, Ren Zhengfei’s worth is estimated $3.3 billion.
Shortly after establishing Huawei, Ren divorced Meng Jun and got married to Yao Lin, with whom he had Annabel Yao. Yao is likely to be a fashionable socialite, as indicated by her Instagram.
Annabel Yao is 21 years old. Not only does she major in computer science at Harvard but Yao also does ballet and fashion.
Yao showed up at a debutante ball in Paris not long after Meng’s arrest. The party is precisely called Le Bal des Débutantes, gathering children from famous and super wealthy families.
We merely know what Ren spends his fortune on. Yet, according to Paris Match, Ren’s family was spotted at a luxurious palace in Shenzen, which was built to welcome Huawei visitors. Paris Match reported that Yao insisted that Ren poses with her as the celebration of her appearance at the Le Bal des Débutantes.
Chinese media said that Ren is going to have his third wedding, this time with Su Wei, his former assistant.
Ren Zhengfei has rebuked his daughter Meng Wanzhou and his son Meng Ping for insufficient qualifications to take over Huawei.
In an email, Ren wrote that the leader of Huawei must have determination, vision as well as a long-term view. But none of his children appear to possess those, which means, Ren said, they would never take over the company.
However, Meng Wanzhou obviously proved her father the otherwise. The oldest daughter joined her father’s business in 1993 and has spent her own effort to become Huawei’s CFO. In March 2018, Meng took over her father at the vice chairman position.
Like her father, Meng’s personal life is little known. It is likely that this million-dollar house in Vancouver, Canada, belongs to her. Reports also said that she has two children.

The arrest of Meng has extended the international tensions between China and the US, according to which China demanded Meng to be released.
