Recently, the $1 trillion company Amazon has taken a lawsuit filed by its direct opponent, eBay. Stated in the complaint, eBay has accused Jeff Bezos’ company of poaching its marketplace’s sellers illegally.
The lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara County of California on last Wednesday. According to a report on the Wall Street Journal, Amazon was accused of perpetrating a scheme to exploit and infiltrate the email system of the internal members of eBay.
On the other hand, eBay also alleged many Amazon sales representatives in the US and other foreign countries that these representatives are doing illegal acts harming eBay's bussiness. According to Amazon's biggest opponent in the market, the company is putting their efforts to recruit eBay’s high-value sellers. This is an unacceptable action as it will decrease eBay's current as well as future sales when they will, probably, no longer have those potential sellers who used to be their "profit makers" since the day they existed in the market.
eBay's decision to file their complaint was come to two weeks after they had sent Amazon a cease-and-desist letter. Written in the papers, the company stressed that they have found evidence of Amazon’s effort to poach their top sellers. It is worth noting that eBay's finding are not just the recent information. The company stated their evidence has proved that Amazon's mean acts were done for many years.
Alleging in their lawsuit, eBay wrote:
Reported by the Journal, the evidence of Amazon coordinating eBay’s scheme from the headquarters of this company. eBay has successfully traced Amazon’s internet protocol addresses from their messages to eBay's sellers.
Representatives of both Amazon and eBay haven't given any responses about eBay’s lawsuit filing.
