Apple has finally launched its long-rumored headphones. As expected, the AirPods Max can deeply integrate with the rest of the devices in the Apple ecosystem, is powered by an H1 chip, and sports an over-ear design.
The AirPods Max is available to order starting December 8 with a price of $549, with deliveries arriving next week.
Under the hood, the AirPods Max runs on an H1 chip which allows for automatic device switching, spatial audio, and many more. Users can acquire the new headphones in five different colors and here are all the features you may want to know about:
The release of AirPods Max has been speculated for over a year now and yesterday, Apple confirmed the launch of the device via a press release. The launch has been rumored since last week but back then, we aren’t entirely sure which gadget Apple was going to introduce.
Here are some of the AirPods Max’s most prominent features:
- Charge via Lightning
- Spatial Audio
- Active Noise Cancellation
- Adaptive EQ
- Automatic device switching
- Audio Sharing
- Transparency Mode
- $549, delivery starts December 15.
To justify the price of the headphones, Apple provides some claims about the expected sound quality. According to the Cupertino tech giant, the headphones’ 40-mm Apple-designed dynamic driver allows for clean and crisp highs, accurate mid-range, and deep bass so that users can hear every note.
For those who don’t know, Adaptive EQ helps with adjusting the sounds according to the seal and fit of the ear cushions. The AirPods-inspired Digital Crown on the side lets you activate Siri, control playback and volume, pause, skip, answer, and end phone calls.
According to Apple, AirPods Max can run for up to 20 hours, with spatial audio and Active Noise Cancellation enabled, of talk time, high-fidelity audio, and movie playback.
The headphones have head detection so they can detect when they are placed on users’ heads and when they are removed.
Users can acquire the headphones in five colors: pink, space gray, green, silver, and sky blue.
The device comes with a Smart Case that will put the device into a low power mode to save battery life.
AirPods Max is Apple’s effort to take on premium headphones like Bose QuietComfort 35 II and Sony WH-1000XM4. The selling point here is the deep integration with the Apple ecosystem.
