Do you often forget your passcode and get panic? Here's a way out. An Apple Watch paired with an iPhone is easy to unlock. Remove the password from the Watch and later, restore it via backup.
Before doing this, make sure that you've truly forgotten the passcode because the process will wipe out the data completely, and then restoring it or setting it up again is quite troublesome.
Keep the iPhone and the Watch together until the process is done.
- On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app then visit the My Watch tab. Now, tap on General, then Reset.
- Now tap on Erase the Apple Watch Content and Settings.
- One more tap for verification. Then, type in your Apple ID passcode if prompted.
- Do you own any cellular pack that's attached to the Watch? If yes, choose between two options: either remove or keep the phone plan. Suppose you are going through this process just to unlock the Watch, opt for keeping the plan.
- When you're done with the reset, the Watch can be set up again. Then, tap on Restore from Backup.
Activation Lock on the Apple watch
The application 'Find My iPhone' has a feature known as the Activation Lock. This prevents the Watch from getting used by any other person in the case the Watch is stolen or probably lost. For WatchOS 2 version and later ones, this feature automatically engages itself when the application Find My iPhone is set on that iPhone, paired with the Watch. It will help to protect the Watch by requiring your password and Apple ID to:
- Unpair the Watch from iPhone.
- Pair, then use the Apple Watch with a new device.
- Turn the Find My iPhone application off.
Want to check whether the Activation Lock is open or not? It is quite easy to do. Just open the Apple Watch application and then the tab My Watch. On the top of your screen, tap on the Watch name. Click on the Info icon ("i"). You will see Find My Apple Watch if the Activation Lock is enabled.
To get your Watch repaired, or if any other person wants to use it, turn the Activation Lock off. Follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Keep the iPhone and Apple Watch together.
- Head to the tab My Watch in Apple Watch app.
- At the top of your screen, tap on Watch name. Then, click on the Info icon.
- Now, tap on Unpair Apple Watch. If there is any cellular pack attached to the Watch, Remove [Carrier] Plan.
- Lastly, enter the Password of Apple ID and then confirm it.
Yeah, the Apple Watch is finally unlocked.
